Peace and Yoga

My earlier attempts at Yoga had failed miserably but this time it seems to be going well and I think I understand why. It boils down to the Gita Shloka - Prasade Sarva dukhanaam hani rasyopajayate - in peace there is end to all miseries. When you are peaceful you treat everyone around with peace and love. You also learn not to be hard on your body, but treat it as your friend or child, trust it and nurture it. When yoga is practiced with peace, the progress is steady, neither too fast, nor too slow. You enjoy the small progresses made each day. Then the understanding comes about why Yama and Niyama are so essential - Ahimsa is the first Niyama. Don't hurt anyone - goes for one's own body too. Satya - truth - don't fool yourself, accept whatever it is, as it is.
Anyway the main point of this log is to remind me of the necessity of being peaceful, content while doing asanas and meditation.
